"INTERCESSION AND RELEASE
I was reminded the other day of the old "Treasure Island" movie with the chest full of silver and gold., and vicious-looking pirates and even Long John Silver. It was a real point of nostalgia.
I want to tell you something about a treasure I believe the Lord is wanting to pour forth on us. I know people get uneasy when someone says, 'I had a vision' or 'I heard the Lord.' I know you might be tempted to take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt, But I also believe the Holy Spirit will quickly confirm and settle it in your heart as a point of truth and direction.
The picture is that of seeing a Treasure Island treasure chest just being opened after many years of being hidden in the ground. Certainly you can imagine the nervous men who had the authority to open the chest. As its opened, the coins and jewels begin to spill out, but very quickly the rush of riches stops because the overflow at the top is gone.
I believe thats where the Lord enters the picture. What we've experienced so far is only the surface of his resources that He would desire to pour forth on us and through us. There is, however, one significant condition. It's
intercession. As we would stand in prayer He, the Lord, would begin to tip the chest, indicative of His bounty and unlimited supply being released.
Psalm 84:11 - 'No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.' His desire is to pour forth on us all that is needed to fulfill th appointments He has called us to. All of this brings us to:
1. AN IMMEDIACY OF PURPOSE - HIS TREASURE God has demonstrated a hunger to pour forth wholeness that can change nations, conquer cancer, and re-direct a confused generation. God's priceless chest of riches has always been adequate to purcahse any man's deficits, whether physical or spiritual. That's our immediate purpose and goal.
2.
AN IMMEDIACY OF RESPONSE - OUR INTERCESSION Most critical points of prayer and intercession are usually forsaken because the object being prayed for seems so staggeringly great. People think, 'It's just too big a thing to believe my little prayers could make a difference.' You know, there are times we all feel like that. I'm praying we'll see together thayt nothing is too hard for God.
An heir of His riches.
